West Ham’s attacking-midfielder Pablo Fornals has made a worrying claim about the Hammers following their disappointing 1-0 loss to Liverpool.
The Lowdown: Hammers’ recent form
The Irons have struggled to maintain consistency at times this season, with a number of great results being immediately followed by a poor one. This was exemplified by West Ham’s stunning 3-2 win over Jurgen Klopp’s side in November, which was then followed by a 1-0 loss to Wolves straight after.
In David Moyes’ side’s last six league games, the trailing three points to fourth place Arsenal, who have three games-in-hand over the Irons.

The Latest: Fornals’ claim…
After West Ham’s 1-0 defeat on Saturday, Fornals expressed his disappointment in the Irons’ failure to make use of their chances, admitting it is becoming a trend.
The West Ham Way shared the Spaniard’s interview, where he claimed:
“One hundred percent [we had the better chances].
“It’s really frustrating because I think from the first until the last guy who wore a West Ham shirt did an unbelievable job inside the pitch.
”I’m really disappointed for me personally because I didn’t take the chance, but I’m really proud of what I did and all the lads did inside the pitch and how we played against the best or second best team in the league and probably in the world right now.
“It’s one of them where probably we could have scored three goals in the first half and it was the same against Southampton.”
The Verdict: Wasteful West Ham
The inability to finish in the final third has been a regular difficulty at times this season. This has been exacerbated by Michail Antonio being the club’s only out-and-out striker, while he has failed to find the back of the net in his last eight Premier league games.
This may have proved costly for the Hammers, who had (and still have) a real chance of obtaining a top four finish and Champions League football.
Of course, if a lack of clinical finishing turns out to be the reason they fall short, fans will look back to GSB’s failure to land a new striker in the January transfer window with even more bemusement.
